MEET THE NEW DEANE - Taste your way through our new menu with Chef Chris Barton and Proprietor Sal Howell. Join us Wednesday February 5th for an evening that brings the menu to life while exploring and connecting the rich history of Captain Deane and the heritage house. The evening includes a tour of the historical building, a live interview between Avenue‘s editor-in-chief, Käthe Lemon, and Deane House owner, Sal Howell, as well as jazz house fusion music courtesy of DJ Jon Spade and local musicians. Back on the Menu - A house favourite: Ginger Beets with chili, sesame, and honey. This dish is a contemporary play on Calgary's famous Silver Inn Ginger Beef from the 70's. In the kitchen, Chef Chris Barton is readying our new menu, pulling inspiration from the history of the region and from the original inhabitant of the house, Captain Richard Burton Deane, who left clues to his culinary curiosity and reputation as an excellent host in his book, “Mounted Police Life in Canada.” The 2020 menu is going to delight you with shared plates and family-style dining. We’re Back! We are getting our mise-en-place in order and on January 24th, we look forward to welcoming you back to Deane House for lunch, dinner, weekend brunch, afternoon cocktails, Sunday live-jazz supper. We have missed you! The House has been fully restored to the gorgeous place we remember and all the details are in place.
